There are various reasons why water analysis is necessary in industry or in the laboratory. Whether for process or quality control, microfluidic systems find their application in many places. Water analysis in process control

In most industries a custom-fit process control is the key to ensuring optimum levels of reliability and efficiency. Today, processing systems are under increasing pressure to achieve productivity and cost efficiency without compromising quality. Improved control and monitoring reduce waste of expensive materials.

Microfluidics can be very helpful here. With the help of a simple water analysis of, for example, the coolant used, it can be determined whether the system has any leaks. Or it can be tested whether there are hazardous pollutants in the wastewater. These and other applications can be made possible with the mp6 micropump and other microfluidic components from Bartels.

Easy identification of liquids

A lot of times, water ananlysis is useful in lab and point of care applications. It is often crucial to know exactly which fluid is currently in the system. The identification of a liquid or a mixture is important in microfluidics for a variety of reasons:

  • The performance of a micropump is viscosity dependent.
  • The exact degree of mixing of two liquids is to be controlled.
  • The entire process depends on the fluid currently used.

Here, one option is the measurement of the thermal conductivity. For this purpose, there is a sensor which briefly heats the liquid. The value determined in this way can then be used to name the exact liquid or mixture.

The basis of microfluidics system is the mp6 micropump and the corresponding controller electronics (the mp-Multiboard2 and an associated driver).
